Tsitsikama Mountain Trail

The Tsitsikamma Trail is a southern Cape hiking paradise, journeying through lush indigenous afromontane forest and mountain fynbos. Ancient river gorges and abundant rivers and streams provide plentiful swimming opportunities. Beginning in Natures Valley and ending 60-km further at either the Storms River Bridge or Village, this six day, unidirectional trail takes hikers through the heart of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Shorter variations (2,3,4 or 5 days) are possible as each of the five overnight huts has its own unique access route with safe parking at the start. Optional equipment porterage (slackpacking) now provides hikers with the chance of having all their equipment transported between overnight huts, allowing the luxury of carrying only daypacks on each days journey. This makes the trail accessible to a wider range of people and provides all with more time for swimming, photography, birding and other activities usually limited by time or weight constraints. It also means fresh food and drinks each night at the overnight huts, allowing hikers to bring a variety of goods not normally going into the backpacks. Field guides and binoculars are definitely recommended along this exciting and unpredictable journey. Many of the forest giants are labeled with their tree names and hikers can have much fun with guessing and identification games along the route. Price Structure Hiking Fees R110,00 per person per night. Equipment Porterage R650.00 per hut for 2-6 people R850.00 for 712 people (Max 12)

Tsolwana Nature Reserve

Tsolwana has three luxury lodges to cater for different tastes and party sizes. All of them are self-catering, but you can get the services of a housekeeper and a cook if you are in need of being spoilt like only the staff at Tsolwana can do. You bring the food and ingredients and Tsolwanas staff will prepare it for you while you enjoy the diversity of activities that are offered at Tsolwana. Or, simply relax in the gardens or in the spacious lodges which were once the homes of the farmers who owned the land. Tibet Park Lodge forms part of the area where the parks official buildings are located, which houses the curio shop, some offices, staff quarters and conference facilities. The lodge is however located far enough from these other buildings to ensure a feeling of seclusion in the spacious luxury that this old homestead offers its guests. With the same services concerning service and food preparation as in Otterford Lodge, this lodge offers value that far outshines the three stars that were awarded it. Otterford Lodge and Tibet Park Lodge are both graded three star establishments, and they can each accommodate 10 persons. Otterford Lodge Otterford Lodge is situated at a very secluded, shady and cool spot in the reserve. It is a very inviting venue for larger families or other groups to spend holidays or have small secluded live-in business meetings. Just bring your food and drinks, and the staff will spoil you like you were at a fully catered-for hotel, with the added benefit of being surrounded by mountains in one of the country's most beautiful nature areas. MORE Indwe Lodge Indwe is the smaller of the lodges and accommodates 8 persons. It is situated a distance from the others, so that it also has a secluded atmosphere in a beautiful setting with views on the mountains that surround it. It is run in the same way as the other two lodges with the same level of luxury that the others enjoy.

Chokka Trail

Three picturesque fishing villages, a rugged coastline, sand dunes as far as the eye can see, a tidal river, protected fynbos, wetlands and a visit to South Africa’s only privately owned working harbour. These are the ingredients that make up the Chokka Trail, a slack packing hiking holiday through St Francis Bay, Port St Francis, Cape St Francis and Oyster Bay. The best possible opportunity to see and experience just how beautiful the area is on foot, at your own pace and with overnight accommodation at guesthouses. Hikers meet for the four day/three night route at the Cape St Francis Resort before they are transported to Oyster Bay, a holiday village about 20km to the west.  A warm-up walk to Thysbaai kicks off the 62km hike, followed by traversing a dune field back to St Francis on day 2, and more coastal hiking on day 3 and 4.  It includes a visit to a penguin rehabilitation centre, a calamari tasting and canal cruise.
