Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) as a management authority is required under the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, No. 57 of 2003 to compile and update management plans for protected areas under its management. ECPTA is inviting the public to comment on the draft management plans for the Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site, Mkambati and Commando Drift Nature Reserves.
The protected area management plan serves as an overarching document that indicates where management intends to focus its efforts in the next ten years and it provides the medium-term operational framework for the prioritized allocation of resources and capacity in the development and management of each nature reserve. The electronic versions of the draft management plans are available on the ECPTA below.
The hardcopies of the plans are also available at:
Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site: Groendal, Baviaanskloof, Formosa Nature Reserves; tourism offices in Patensie and Willowmore as well as the municipal offices at Joubertina.
Mkambati Nature Reserve: Public library at Flagstaff and at the nature reserve.
Commando Drift Nature Reserve: The draft can be obtained at the nature reserve.
This notice is issued in accordance with section 39, read with section 41 of the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act No. 57 of 2003.
